I'm not afraid to admit it and I'll be admitting that I had burn myself out during the Fall Semester....this is a no no for those of you who have no passion or motivation. As soon as the Semester was over and I got the break I need I feel fully refresh and alive once again! HOO RAH! For those of you who are my Facebook pals, you've may have notice my big rants on grad schools for Art History and the whole nine yards attached.

I'm to tell you that I'll be throwing that list in the garbage...it's true what they say you'll change your quite a few times around before you settled. I was choosing art history just because I love the art and culture, the perfect way to get it was through a M.A in Art History, BUT I wouldn't have the skills or foggiest ideal on how to create my Programming Center after I got my M.A degree.

So after panicking, I searched and searched for this fictional degree. After a long search I found it... Most of them are MFA in Arts Leadership, MA Arts Administration, MA Arts Management and Leadership etc, but I found programs that'll suit my hunger art and culture as well to help me create my dream. <3>
Only three semesters left.

By the Way here are the list of schools and links to the program. No worries.

Right now I"m trying to find a few places that would like to show my art that are in the area. I've email the BSCTCS, which I believe is now called KCTCS...but their website name hasn't changed. I hope to hear back from them in a couple of days. I"m going to send a email to Pikeville College/ Artisan Center to see if they would like to as well.

I've been in a slump for awhile. I've not drawn much or anything, the ENGAGE Convergence inspired me to draw while I was there, but when I left I didn't really feel like drawing and I also became fairly busy with my internship. One day I went into Summit City, ordered my food and sat down at a table and started to doodle, like usual. A woman (whose name is Kay) came and started to compliment my artwork. There began my small doses of inspiration, she complimented me, made requests to do a drawing in her bar's sketch pad. She got me into wanting to draw again. Sadly, I have nothing to show..for the moment. I'm still busy with my internship so there won't be much until the end of July. I gave Kay, one of my sketches (it was framed). It was token of my appreciation.

Last thing I'll list today is of the sketch that I showed long, long time ago.

Okay, that is the doodle I showed long, long time ago. I’ve been hit with the art bug but I don’t think I’ll get the alone time to work on my recent ideas or the thoughts running through my head.
I’m an artist, a visual artist. I’m mainly traditional..I”m big fan of messy stuff mainly charcoal, ink, and the lovely pastels, but from time to time. I’ll dabble in paint; mainly watercolor. My artwork is very expressive, that I hope everyone can have some form of a connection with that piece. My artwork mainly uses playful characters/objects but the situation, or subject matter will be quite serious. I hope to have some posted for you later on. I’m also a kid who loves the mountains, and the people in Eastern, Ky. I hope to come back to this place and help out in my community.

Right now in my life and time…I’m a college student who is on summer break, and taking a summer class…. I”m also in two internships…the first is with the ENGAGE program, sadly because of things going on at home I can’t give much to the internship, but they have been nice and kind to keep me included. My second internship is with Appalshop, the program is called Appalachian Media Institute…which starts late June. I hope to give you more entertaining information later on. Thanks for sticking around and reading, I hope you continue the reading of my further adventures.

Devoured by the Devotion

Beauty of Transforming

The art, yes the art……well drawings that I’ve done and started to produce in small sizes so w00t for me. Devoured by devotion is a piece that I’ve worked on and off for a couple of weeks. I finished the piece when I went to Mountain Justice Camp on Pine Mountain. I don't have much to report other than my knew laptop is very sweet, in design and performance. Now I have to debate if I really want to get rid of my laptop that is in my University program or keep it, the main and only reason I want to keep it is because the screen flips an you can use it as a tablet. Anywho I have my new laptop to use for my internships....*woot*

Life is going at the moment, seems pretty good but you know I don't want to jinx it. I"m sorry for this horribly, horribly short blog BUT I do have some images to show which are by the way peices I worked on with the tablet laptop so have fun!

<img style="float: left; UPS has apparently gave it to local post office, which means I can no longer be a creeper and watch the epicness of it being delivered to me, plus it may take longer. It seems that when we expect something we become impatient or at the very least time slows down; merciless for receiving....
Now I have to wait...again.

On to next piece of information is that I have art to show, just not online. Oddly, enough I've made some artwork, sketches etc...but all are in my locker in Morehead which is two hours away from where I reside during the summer a.k.a my home., but I do have a few digitals (yay!) just not on this computer.....it's on my laptop that is being held hostage at my sister's place. I do have an external hard drive that may have some new art, or at least artwork you haven't, but I'm going to be leaving so I don't have time to add it to this blog. If I find my camera, or fix my scanner/printer (that fell when I sprung my ankle), then I give you sketches from my notebook. =] We'll have to see how it goes...

I will give you a doodle though that I did during a visiting artist lecture...only at the beginning, later it got better, or I woke up, one of the two..maybe, possibly both.

If You Rock Back Enough You'll Fall

Okay, so this is a random blog moment. More of what I"m looking for for Graduate schools.... I still have two years left but looking at one two Universities; their deadlines don't fall the same as those for when I applied to be an undergrad. Any who, I've been contemplating/indecisive about Gard school, as in major and so forth.

I'm wanting to do so much with my art, and now I want to help out my community here in Floyd County. Primarily in Mud Creek (holler with mini hollers so to speak.) First, before doing so I want to leave and travel as well to get outside help. I'm starting to rant I know just bare with me folks. I'm wanting to be an Art Historian. My love in art history is that of culture.. indigenous cultures for instances Americas, Africa etc. This goes into a section called Non-Western Art. Noting my luck that this concentration is very rare apparently, but I feel that I shouldn't specialize in a certain culture until PhD time which is far, far, far down the road.

I'm still looking for Universities for which in Fall 2011 that I'll be applying to for Graduate school.
At the moment I'm still looking and researching just seeing what's there for me. So far these are the Universities I found interesting or want to find more about, as well to live there or to at least visit.

University of Maryland
University of New Mexico
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
University of Virginia

If you know anything about them or any universities I should check out, please let me know. Like I said random, but important I think.
-Love

A Sinking Ship in a Waterless Ditch

I should become a magician, since I have the ability to perform many vanishing acts. Summer has set in and I have one class during, and two internships during my summer (one at a time of course). I have plenty of sketches, and a few pieces of art to show, and a writing sample. The past semester has once again been a busy one. I've been working, learning, and avoiding melt-downs. I've been titled with the Most Outstanding Sophomore Art Award. Given plenty travel opportunities and a new fellowship to try in the Fall. I don't want to over power you in one session, so I'll do my best not to, if you want to know of my travels to St. Louis, Asheville, and/or Baltimore, just say so and I"ll give you a new post about it., but on with the "now".

My aunt is in the Hospital for many different things, it seems to change every day. Hopefully she will be out and walking around the Holler like her usual self. I've sprang/sprung my ankle (yay!), it gets easier everytime. Now I'm waiting for the June first to come by and to start my finance class and my ENGAGE internship. I'll talk about this and my other internship later.

So now that you have a re-cap (somewhat) I can continue this blog and hopefully with a consistency. So here goes one or two pieces. I'm doing fine (it's still off by the way). I'm hanging around in a lobby at the moment typing to ths empty void. Good news is I"ve read a two books and started to draw in a sketch book. So there are a few good things to come from it. I'm working diligently not to get sick it appears that this virus has it some of my family but so far good (knock on wood.) I"ve attempted to write but I only get about three words in. I think I'll work on grammar issues on what I have until I"m out of this stump (writer's block.) I've been happy because of certain people but I"m not one who shares their personal life online, so sorry folks (to whoever actually reads this).
I think right now I"m killing time, ha ha but I don't know who here appreciates it all too well. I"m thinking about writing about this wonderful adventure... I"ve gotten into narrative nonfiction lately ( it's kinda fun) but I still think my life is boring and too mundane to write about but I guess we'll see. Artwork I"m thinking of picking back on my comics or so since the upcoming semester I don't really have an art class or I can work on illustrations for my book.... decisions desicions. I rather have limited options than unlimited because it to hard to pick especially if you can see more than three pros or cans to each one.... Karaoke is picking up so I think that's my que to leave before I fall in the floor laughing just one thing to tell you though Country boys shouldn't sing rock especially if the song is Voodoo by Godsmack... have a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays which ever fits you best or a happy belated Hanukkah. =)

History is of the Past and so Now I Stand in the Present.

I haven't been online in ages and I feel horrible about it. I guess I'm not an addictive blogger as I should be..... My life is going decently and flowing through time quite well surprisingly. I'm now doubling in majors (Art and Creative Writing and I"m also getting my teacher's certification.) Being a teacher isn't really my main goal but a back up. There are many things I would love to do but I don't know which one to do first.... I started to write again last summer which was great and I"m very proud with what I've accomplished with it but it's not finished.... but I've received a contract for it! I still want more possibilities for it but I don't know what route to go for it...... decisions, decisions...

School is going quite well and as you can image I'm on break. I'm trying to figure out if I should continue to finish the story... or to work on artwork... During last semester I only had two art classes one was Intro to Computer Visual Art and Art History II. I didn't do much art as I usually do which makes me sad and this upcoming semester will be the same way.... I"m lost in the options of what to do....

My mind has to many options and I can't seem to prioritize them accordingly. Lately, I"ve been watching movies (Julie and Julia is playing in the background) and they've inspired and motivated me once again. I"m hoping to get enough money to cook an amazing meal as well begin writing once again!

This is really all I have to speak about I may write later tonight or tomorrow. I'm hoping to catch the blogging bug at some point this week. =)

-Love

Entertainment Is Great When You Can't See It.

I have resurrected myself. It has been a long time since, I've posted. I apologize about that I've been busy with classes during summer as well as the fall. Life seems to be going at a decent pace. I do actually have exciting news! I did some drawing drawing during the summer as well a few will sculptures pieces. I'll try and post them sometime this weekend. I've also gotten back into writing! (Hurray!) Right now I'm waiting on replies about those, ehh, let me see my University has their own little tv channel. One of the shows that airs is called Hear Me Roar, it's a show that talks and speaks with feminist or feminism perspective.
I was invited to be on the show and was interviewed about my art and so on. This of course has my day well actually probably three! Here is the link! I've begun my fellowship once again! We've had our first show now working on the 2nd one that is called No New Tale to Tell! There is still time to submit pieces of artwork so I recommend all to do so here is the link.

Engulfed in the Sea isn't so Bad if You can Swim.

Once again, I've been engulfed into the Sea, extremely busy with finals and school which is now over, and summer has started looking for a job. I had great fun and tons of laugh and figured out what to do with my life career wise. I have a fellowship in which I work in the gallery an it's amazingly fun to do. We got to do some behind the scenes fun at Cinncy's Art Museum and Columbus Art Museum. They talked about the different positions held there , so what I do in the gallery is adminstration and prepare. Adminstration is okay but I'm not much for siting in a chair all day... I love to prepare artwork and to hang everything . I love that part of it . I figure after I graduate and if I don't stay here to finish graduate school I would go to Ohio State and work in Columbus's Gallery or go to Cinncy and go to Univ. of Cinncy.

While in Columbus I saw an art car that totally made my day. I'll post pictures in few minutes. Since I've been back to school I love my fellowship, drawing we are on perspective in which I'm procrastinating on. Art History I took my Quiz over African Art, I'm very happy ^__^.

Tomorrow I need to send out my work for a show opportunity. If I have enough funds I will most definitely. That's is al I have to report for the day have a good one! =]
<img style="cursor: pointer; I have two finished but I only like one of them decently. The last blog about Woman Made Gallery, I received comment of them identifying with my work. I checked out their blog..and realized that I have so many things to show the world.... meaning that I left certain things out.... I wanted to help and support groups pf people and I haven't and my main "deal" with my work is connection to people whom look at it...I thought I wasn't accomplishing that because of the rejection, and critiques from my professors but I do see that they are connecting in some form or manner. In the fear series there are 3 figures that I call the fates, that are the shadows of every human, and of shadows that form to the shapes of our...but just likes shadows aren't dangerous just the seeing, and knowing sets the fear of the fates. I think the fates are more serious with no faces, but that may just be me. From the commentor of the last blog has given me ideas for another series to set the world on impact. Hopefully I'll shall get to those soon...... Anyway here are my new latest pieces.

Result from Woman Made Gallery

I note now I was rejected, I figured I would be so its not to bad of a fall, and since 696 pieces not including video were entered and they only chose 35. Anyway in meh Sculpture clas we just finished creating a sculpture made or either 50-100 same objects or different.... I had fun with this assignment I'm worried that after the class I won't have the enthusiasm to create any, I have ideas plenty its just I"m procratinating on it........ Either way here are a few pictures of the piece I hope you like. Note this piece is suppose to be laying on the ground with the fabric in a spiral... the sculpture room is horribly dirty......so I didn't place it in the floor. ^^' Great news as well my site will be official with its own name within the week. So uber excited. W00t so I am apparantly still procrastinating on doing things. As you can tell by my wonderful title I'm working on a site, no actual domain (meaning its free =]) I'm not a fan of html...so I'm working with flash which is easier as in not really interpreting or mental visuals either way it is still very long and is about the same work as html just no coding. I'm about to finish...errr somewhat I just to put up images and it shall be alive! I received my book the other day of my novel another add to w00tness. I have it online for demand publishing, though I really need to find someone who can read contract, I've been told we don't have a free paralegal for students on campus...bummer. So I did show to a professor which told me it was a basic contract but they were holding certain rights which may not be a big to me or is.... until I getg it looked over it is staying online. I used a site that doesn't have a editing area of itself so I know i probably have a few mistakes.... so Im stalling on placing it on my sites for purchase. I love my book but honestly just buy the paperback, I get more money out of that then the hardcover, just fyi, and it is cheaper considerably compared to hardback but it you are like me and can;t resist hardback so be it. =] May put it on here later....

<div id="badge" style="border: 1px solid rgb(160, 160, 160); I'm an artist who is trying to get their name out there in the world. I've been working on a site and have countless place that also have my artwork on. There are many things I want to accomplish, my artwork, I want to also go and help others as in Causes or of Activism though I don't know how to start. I've seen one artist name Ashley Cecil whom does this and does a very great job on doing this and would like to do the same.

I'm also wanting to go an to know many other artist regardless your ideas, styles etc. Also I'm learning on how to handle things in Galleries at school in my Fellowship. I'm hoping with every blog I'll be able to have my series listed and of exhibitions or publications.

My goals at the moment is to get known in where i live at the moment in Kentucky and to proceed forward, don't get me wrong if an offer comes out of state I'm not going to turn it down.

My name is Cecily Howell, I attend Morehead State University. First year student, for the moment I'm in my Spring Semester =]. My fellowship is great I love being one of the first people to see the art before it is hung, as well to see how things are done, learning how to ship and to package. Soon I'll be learning on how to jury in shows. I'm uber excited and can;t wait to continue, I've also seen and met artist that create wonderful and unique artist within my state and out of my state.

For the moment that is it on life other than I need to clean my dorm room (wants to procrastinate even further on that.) I'll be leaving my series, and statement at the end of each blog. Also I don't promoting artist as well or Cause or Movements. =]

Series:

Dolls Series: These series is a continuous series that reflect upon me and my experiences. I use these dolls for juxtaposed idea (dolls/humans, macabre, depressed thought or events by using simple toy or object of entertainment.)

Human Naturism Series: Is based on symbolism and the thought of returning back to nature, or to give back. As well the though for humans to regain their connection with nature.

Heart Series: Belongs to the same style as the dolls, but the heart series is a mini series. This series represent the chaotic structure of the heart in the thought of souls and/or ideas, and showing this in a simplistic way.

Fears Series: This series is of fears that take a normal grasp on people mainly on myself. Majority of these I plan to do out construction paper, or collage using watercolor.
